Race Reels

FAQ

We turn raw race footage into personalized highlight videos for every participant, automatically matched to their bib. Videos are free for runners and designed to deliver measurable value for events and sponsors. See tutorial overview for race directors.

For Race Directors

What exactly is the Race Reels service?

Race Reels automatically assembles a short highlight reel for every participant. Each video can include:

  • Start line footage
  • One or more scenic mid-course sightings
  • Finish-line footage
  • (Optional) Sponsor slate and event branding

Runners receive their own unique video link, and you receive high-level engagement metrics plus sponsor visibility tied directly to sharable, organic content.

Do you need to use a drone to shoot footage?

No. A drone is not required and is never used where it is not allowed. The system works from ground-based cameras. Drone shots are optional and typically used for intro/outro footage.

What do you need from the race to make this work?

We keep the race-side requirements simple:

  • Event roster with names + bib numbers
  • Finish chute access to mount a camera 8–10 feet high
  • (Optional) Attach QR code sticker to bib backs or print bib numbers.

We can also integrate with your results platform so each result page shows a link to the participant’s highlight video.

How many cameras do you use and where?

Typical setup:

  • Finish-line camera (primary)
  • Start-line camera
  • 1–2 scenic mid-course cameras

For pilots, we can run finish-line only for minimal logistics.

Are videos free for participants?

Yes. Our model ensures videos are always free to runners.

Can a race organizer use their own cameras?

Yes, self-hosted cell phone or GoPro cameras (minimum 1080p, 60fps) can be used to record the race video. A direct upload link will be provided to race organizers.

Can you white-label under our event brand?

Yes. We can fully white-label to your event, sponsor, or media partner.

Do you have references?

Yes. We can connect you with multiple race directors who have used the service.

How do we get started?

The easiest way is a small pilot at one of your upcoming events. We can run a finish-line pilot and provide sample reels + analytics. Contact John Hedengren at john@apmonitor.com to get started.
